Biography
Born in Taipei, Taiwan. Raised in New Jersey. Dabbled in Seattle. Living in Southern California.
TechGuyChen began his exploration in photography during his early teen years, acting as the family photographer during family vacations. From there, he self taught the technical aspects of photography, and later videography, tweaking tricks he had learned to fit his own technique. The same would apply once given a position in coordinating public relations as there came a demand for graphics that was fulfilled by playing around with Adobe Illustrator. HTML, CSS, and other programming languages came along through formal education and too many hours on w3schools.com.
Joseph holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering. During his time at USC, Joseph served as an editor, director, and coordinator for several years for Student Publications’ Daily Trojan newspaper and El Rodeo yearbook, Undergraduate Student Government Program Board, and Residential Education Residential Student Government (reformed into a Residential Housing Association). He also worked as a teaching assistant for a coding summer camp which led to working as a course producer for the course CSCI-201 Introduction to Software Programming.
Joseph is currently employed as an engineering systems consultant.
In his little free time, Joseph enjoys DIY fix-it activities (servicing vehicles, woodworking, home improvement, etc), indulging in television series, and socializing with his friends at the latest good eats around LA and Orange County.
To the Visitor
We live in an age where we keep over-sharing. But I’m sure they said the same to whoever published the world’s first autobiography.
While you can find my autobiography in chunks found by the autobiography category, here’s the short version:
By trade, I am a photographer. By education and now trade, I am a technology consultant.
But here you have found my blog, where I will express, rant, talk, ramble, and post my way into oblivion about things that may very well matter to you, or may not matter to you at all.
In the end, this is just a part-time profession – a summary of my expressions every so often.
Enjoy,
Joseph Chen
